HeadstronggirlKenzaliveswithherfatherOuiraandgrandfatherWeljoonacarwreckingyardinthecountryside ofCuraçao.Thetwomenareoppositesthatdon’tparticularlyattract:Ouiraisadeterminedandrationalpoliceofficer,whileWeljoidentifieswiththeoriginalinhabitantsandspiritualityoftheisland.AsWeljowishestopreparehispassingtotheworldofspirits,therelationshipbetweenOuiraenWeljostartstoescalateandtheeleven-year-oldKenzasearchesforherownpathin-betweenthetwoextremes.Thedown-to-earthandavoidantmentalityofOuiranolongeroffersherallthatsheneedsandslowlysheopensuptothemoremysticalandcomfortingtraditionsofhergrandfather.
